QUEEN CANDIDATE RULES
1.
Candidate must meet the following:
A. Must be single.
B. Must never have been married.
C. Must not be pregnant or ever had a child.
D. Must be a resident of the City of Florissant.
E. Must be a Junior in high school.
F. May not have been a former Candidate.
G. Must have reached her 16th year before April 30, 2009
and may not have reached her 18th year before April 30,
2009.

All applications must be accompanied by proof of age (photocopy
of Florissant Resident Card and Photocopy of driver's
license) plus two photographs as stated on the application
form. All information will be sent to the person who completes
the application i.e. Queen candidate or sponsor.

Applications will be accepted by mail or in person at
the Valley of Flowers office, 601 rue St. Charles, Florissant,
MO 63031, or email- valley-of-flowers@sbcglobal.net
or Website-www.florissantoldtown.com.
from December 1, 2008 to Feb. 14, 2009. Competition is
limited to 25 candidates. The Valley of Flowers Benefactors
account for eight candidates (a group of organizations
and businesses who are long time supporters of the festival).
The other seventeen applicants are accepted in the order
received. The Benefactors are: Citizen's Bank, Commerce
Bank, Rotary Club of Florissant, Goldmark Enterprises,
Inc., Florissant Valley Chamber of Commerce, Henefer Jewelers,
Knights of Columbus Duchesne Council #2951 and Commercial
Bank of Florissant.
DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF QUEEN CANDIDATES
1.Attend
the Get Acquainted meeting on February, 2009. (to be determined)
2.
Attend the Tea and Queen's Dinner on Sunday, April ,
2009. A t the dinner the candidates are presented to the
Committee, Sponsors, families and friends.
3.
Attend such events as may be scheduled for all candidates;
i.e. parades, other festival activities.
4,
Ride in the Valley of Flowers Parade, Sunday, May 3.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE VALLEY OF FLOWERS
2009 COURT
1. During their reign, the Queen and her court must remain
single, must not become pregnant and must remain a Florissant
resident.
2. Fulfill requests made by the Committee regarding personal
appearances including but not limited to, parades and
appearances at local civic events. There will be certain
dress requirements for these events.
3.
Notify the Committee immediately if unable to meet all
duties of the Queen. If this occurs you will relinquish
all rights to the title.
4.
Attend the 2010 Valley of Flower's Queens Tea, Dinner
and Parade.
5. If the duties above are not met, the First Runner-Up
will automatically become Queen for the duration of the
reign and will assume the obligations of the Queen. All
gifts not yet awarded to the Queen will be presented to
the First Runner-Up.
IF AFTER SERIOUS CONSIDERATION OF THE ABOVE ,REQUIREMENTS
YOU FEEL YOU CANNOT FULFILL ALL OF THEM, PLEASE DO NOT
SUBMIT THE APPLICATION FOR CANDIDACY TO THE COMMITTEE.
